Tout d'abord j'ai cru, à la lecture de la page web, qu'il s'agissait de montrer notre soutien à Mgr Strickland par la prière et que le terme "pétition" était impropre. Je me suis dit : "pourquoi pas ?"

We, the undersigned, wholeheartedly oppose the removal of Bishop Joseph Strickland from the Diocese of Tyler, Texas.

Bp. Strickland has been a faithful bulwark against a growing tide of evil being endured by Catholics around the world, and such men should be commended rather than condemned by church leaders in positions of power, not least by the pope himself.

The highest law of the Church is the salvation of souls, and Bp. Strickland has consistently prioritized this at great cost to his standing among those who hope the Bride of Christ will betray the example of its Bridegroom, Jesus Christ.

We pray that you will reverse this decision and allow faithful shepherds like Bp. Strickland to lead souls towards heaven.

Thank you for considering our appeal.

Et là, désolé, mais ce sera sans moi. Il n'y a que les délires du synode synodalisant pour faire croire que l'Eglise serait une démocratie et que des pétionnaires pourraient y faire la loi ou s'opposer à la loi.

Par ailleurs, une pétition n'a une chance de trouver une oreille favorable que

- soit lorsque le dirigeant, ici le pasteur suprême, est à l'écoute de ses brebis et est soucieux du bien des signataires. Or s'il écarte Mgr Strickland de façon autoritaire et injustifiée, ce n'est pas pour prêter l'oreille à ses soutiens par la suite et revenir sur sa décision autocratique. Surtout quand la pétition est rédigées en ces termes peu amènes

- soit que le destinataire de la pétition pourrait trouver un intérêt personnel à écouter. Mais ce n'est pas comme si le pape risquait une non-réélection à la fin de son mandat !

Donc je prie pour Mgr Strickland et lui manifeste tout mon soutien ici. Mais je ne signerai pas.
