Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle has again been elected a seat at the Vatican.

Tagle is now part of the Synod of Bishops on the Family, an advisory body of the pope composed of 15 bishops and cardinals, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines announced on Tuesday (November 17).

The members were elected by the synod father at the end of the assembly at the Vatican from October 4 to 15. They will coordinate the follow-up to the synod on the family.

According to the Catholic News Service (CNS), the prelates elected took "strongly divergent positions" at the synod, especially when it comes to giving communion to divorced and civilly remarried Catholics.

Aside from Tagle, also elected were:

Cardinal Wilfrid Fox Napier of Durban (South Africa)
Cardinal Oscar Andrés Rodríguez Maradiaga of Tegucigalpa (Honduras)
Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson, president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace
Cardinal George Pell, prefect of the Secretariat for the Economy
Cardinal Marc Ouellet, prefect of the Congregation for Bishops
Cardinal Oswald Gracias of Mumbai (India)
Cardinal Vincent Nichols of Westminster (England)
Cardinal Robert Sarah, prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments
Archbishop Charles Chaput of Philadelphia (U.S.)
Archbishop Bruno Forte of Chieti-Vasto (Italy)
The three other members were appointed by Pope Francis himself: Chaldean Catholic Patriarch Louis Sako of Baghdad; Archbishop Carlos Osoro of Madrid; and Archbishop Sergio Da Rocha of Brasilia, Brazil.

To complete the synod is a permanent secretary general and an undersecretary.

Another boost in Tagle's profile
Tagle also served as one of the three presidents of two synod general assemblies on the family in the past, held at the Vatican in 2014 and October of this year.

The 58 year-old cardinal is often mentioned as a strong papal contender. Earlier this year, he was also elected as the president of the Caritas Internationalis, a confederation of Catholic charity organizations in over 200 countries.

Dubbed as the "Asian Pope Francis," Tagle was profiled in a book titled, "Luis Antonio Tagle: Leading by Listening," by veteran Vatican journalist Cindy Wooden, the CNS Rome Bureau Chief. CNN
