Synod leader: the Pope’s ‘great revolution’ is one of ‘language and attitudes’

In an address to the bishops of Slovakia, the Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops said that “the great revolution” of Pope Francis is “the revolution of language and attitudes, in integral fidelity to the doctrine of all time, the revolution of tenderness and mercy.”
The Pope teaches us “not to indulge in defeatism and to avoid polarizations,” Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri said on March 24. There is “a new style, in which the contents of the irrenouncable Gospel of life are all reaffirmed and proclaimed,” while “avoiding the temptation to impose unbearable burdens.”
“The culture of life is one with the ‘option for the poor,’” he added, as he distinguished the option for the poor from welfare programs and decried “libertarian biotechnology ideologies.”
